IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:
This is the 3 foot
(actual size) # 7 Star (52 in. by 52 in. overall square
cloth) of the 30 by 50 foot Confederate Battle Flag
which flew in Tampa on Jefferson Davis' 200th Birthday,
June 3, 2008. It is the original and first flag to fly
at the Confederate Memorial Park at the intersection of
Interstates 4 and 75 in the early Summer of 2008. This
flag generated 20 days of continuous national news
coverage. This flag was retired and was replaced with a
larger 30 by 60 foot flag. This is a fundraiser for the
final stage of the construction and development of the
park, which is below the flag. At the surrender of the
Army of Northern Virginia on April 9, 1865, the battle
hardened Confederate veterans literally tore their
revered flags into shreds and secreted them on their
persons away to their homes. This gives us a
precedent for our action and for the greater cause we
serve - that of making certain that the soldiers who
served under this banner will never be forgotten.
The first picture is
that of the actual # 7 star. The second picture shows
the authenticity certificate which is presented to the
winner of this auction. The third picture shows the
immense size of the flag. The forth picture shows the
fly flying in all of its glory. The picture from the
interstate reveals the visibility of the flag to the
passing motorist. The sixth picture shows the process
of dividing the flag into its parts. The last picture
shows the layout of the stars by number.
The stars of this
historic flag are numbered 1 - 13. This star is number
7. The authenticity form will be signed by Cmdr. Doug
Dawson of the Florida Division, Sons of Confederate
Veterans and will correspond by number to the small
number written on the back of the 52 x 52 in. fabric
