T-SHIRTS & SWEATSHIRTS

We offer T-shirts and sweatshirts that are heavyweight, poly/cotton blend (50/50). Jerzees (Heavyweight) is the brand of preference, with Hanes (Beefy-T) as a substitute. The T-shirts have pockets.

The material is selected for two reasons. First and foremost is the consideration for the transfer process. The inks used to produce these transfers “like” synthetic material. The inks of the transfer actually penetrate the fabric to a degree as the transfer is applied. Since 100% cotton has a higher absorbency than the 50/50 blend, the inks will “bleed” more readily causing the images to appear “fuzzy.”

The second consideration is shrinkage and feel. Cotton is more subject to shrinkage than synthetic fabrics. The 50/50 blend offers minimal shrinkage while maintaining much of the feel of cotton. Your shirt will still fit after numerous washings and will be less subject to stretching and “twisting” of the fabric. Please see SHIRT AND TRANSFER CARE INSTRUCTIONS below.

SHIRT AND TRANSFER CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Machine wash in warm water with like colors. Use only non-chlorine bleach when necessary. Tumble dry on low.

Shotgun’s Note: These instructions are basic care instructions and are provided as a guideline. If followed, they will provide maximum life expectancy of the shirt and transfer. I, personally, wash my white T-shirts in hot water and chlorine bleach with my other whites (yeah, I do laundry…occasionally). The transfers tend to fade faster, but I sacrifice that consideration for the sake of convenience. A unique feature of these transfers is the ability to ‘refresh’ the image with a moderately hot iron. What’s moderately hot? The best guideline I can provide is if you don’t scorch the shirt, you’re not going to scorch the transfer.

THERMAL TRANSFERS

The thermal transfers used by Shotgun Graphics are produced by color laser at 600x600 dpi in full-color (see additional note).

ADDITIONAL NOTE ON FULL-COLOR PRINTING: Full-color or “process” printing utilizes four basic colors: CYAN (a bright sky-blue), MAGENTA (a ‘hot’ pink), YELLOW, and BLACK (abbreviated CMYK). The colors blend during printing to produce an unlimited color spectrum. As an example, common ink jet and color laser printers are process printers. Please note that the process does not print white. If white areas are present in the image, the color of the media (what’s being printed on) will be the color of the white areas in the image. Shotgun Graphics reproduce best on white and ash (light gray) and are the only shirt colors offered at present.
