First Southern Relief
Distribution Center being established in Mississippi
information compiled by
Mike Crane
Three or more trucks are now en-route to
Mississippi with supplies to help Compatriots ravaged by Hurricane
Katrina as the following message announces. Unlike many Relief and
charitable funds 100% of your contributions are used to provide
direct assistance to our fellow citizens. No high paid PR
specialists and fancy offices. Just trucks rolling down the road
with non perishables, roofing supplies, tarps, etc contributed by
people who care.
One of the first recipients will be the family
of John Cripps who had asked for a generator to run his family's
well. As many know John is a Pastor and his farm will be used as
an initial distribution point. Also as a Pastor John will know of
many deserving families and what their needs are.
We are still working on getting information on
the various funds that are participating in this direct assistance
and two are listed below.
Mike:
We have already got a brand new 7000 watt
generator and two filled 55 gal gas drums and other items ont
the way to John Cripps yesterday around 5PM. This first vehicle
is commandeered by Dennis Wheeler out of Greenville. He should
reach John this morning if he isn't already there already there.
Following behind him this afternoon will be
us in Florida (me and Dan Gonzales and I believe Michael Tubbs.
We have rounded up thousands of dollars of donations and two 24
foot diesel trucks (and maybe more trucks than that and with
more volunteer drivers) and we will be leaving late this
afternoon for Cripps' neighborhood). Our trucks will be loaded
commercial by pallets and filled to capacity with water, food,
temporary building and roof covers like the blue tarps that were
big savers for Florida last year.
I think Mike that Cripps will be overwhelmed
with deliveries starting this morning and into the next 24-36
hours in the area south of Hattiesburg where he is at. And maybe
we should all just use John as a drop off point as he is a
preacher he surely knows those that are in need in the area.
Call me if you need any information or people
need any coordination with us.
Everyone should have the capacity to refuel
their vehicles by carrying fuel drums in any convoy you might
have. We presently in our group have the 4-55gal drums with gas
and diesel fuel and will probably need more as some of the fuel
will be for John and then some for our trucks. But we have some
smart people in the Southern movement that will figure the
logistics out I am sure.

Compatriots: Please note that we are now accepting donations to
The League of the South's Katrina Relief Fund via Paypal on

Please be generous if you can. This will be only the first of
several missions, God willing.
Our first expedition will depart tonight for south Mississippi.
Please pray that it will be a safe and successful trip. Will be
forced to carry all our gasoline supplies because of severe
shortages in south Alabama and Mississippi.
Will report back from time to time on the progress of the trip.

impact of this storm may send financial contributions to:

LEAGUE OF THE SOUTH "KATRINA" RELIEF FUND
The League
of the South will undertake a relief fund for our members who were
victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Our first order of business has been to contact our members in
south Alabama, south Mississippi, and southeast Louisiana who were
in the storm's path. Thus far, we are happy to note that most of
our members in Mobile and the surrounding areas of southwest
Alabama have reported in safely with little major property damage.
However, because of our inability to contact LS members in
Mississippi and Louisiana, we have no idea about their status or
specific needs. I can report, however, that Ron Kennedy and his
family, who live in Mandeville (north of NO on the lake front),
are safe in north Louisiana. Dr. and Mrs. Milburn Calhoun, owners
of Pelican Publishers of Gretna, are also there and safe as well.
Once we're able to confirm the status of our members from
these areas, we will assess their needs, and then use the funds
we've collected to provide for those needs. Because of the
widespread destruction it is likely that the recovery period will
stretch over many months.
The LS Katrina Relief Fund will be administered by the LS
Board of Directors. Funds will not be distributed until we can
confirm the exact needs of our members and until we can actually
deliver the goods. Obviously, some of our less well-off members
will be placed at the top of the list for assistance. Any funds
collected that are not used for this particular emergency will be
sequestered in a separate account to be used for future emergency
events.
If you would like to help us help our own people, please
send your non-tax-deductible donation, marked "Katrina Relief
Fund" and made payable to the League, to
LS
PO Box 760
Killen, Alabama 35645.
May God
bless you and may He relieve the suffering of our people.
On behalf of the LS Board of Directors,
Michael Hill

BEAUVOIR RELIEF FUND
Gentlemen:
Pursuant to directions from Commander General Daniel Jones, the
MOSB is formally announcing the process and procedure for the
BEAUVOIR RELIEF FUND. Cmdr. Jones has asked
Army of Tennessee Commander Phillip Law to coordinate this relief
effort. I have spoken with Rick Forte, President of the Beauvoir
board this morning. Rick said some looting has occurred, and
graphically described the destruction in and around the grounds.
Currently there are several folks onsite, but the temperature is
stifling, and there is no electricity, water, etc.. All local
stores on the beachfront are totally destroyed.
Commander Law, who resides in nearby Mobile, Alabama, will
serve as the local coordinator of donations and the relief
effort. At this time, donations are urgently
requested to be sent to:
Make checks/MO's payable to: MOSB and
reference "Beauvoir Relief Fund" in the
Memo line.
MOSB
PO Box 1274
Fairhope, AL 36533-1274
The Beauvoir employees who have stayed are under great physical
hardship. A seperate plea for the use of a travel trailer and
generators is also being made. Those wishing to provide a travel
trailer and/or generator are urged to contact Rick Forte directly
at 601-268-3323.
Currently the following groups and entities are known to be
sending relief moneys and aide for the Beauvoir Relief Fund:
National MOSB $1,000; Stand Watie Camp #1303 (OK), Tandy Walker
#729 (OK), Oklahoma Division; Indian Territory Society; DH Cooper
Chapter (MOSB); Patrick R. Cleburne Chapter (MOSB).
GENTLEMEN, THIS IS NOT just an MOSB project.
EVERY SCV CAMP, BRIGADE AND DIVISION should participate. Forward
this email to the UDC, the Civil War Roundtables, and our numerous
Friends of the Confederacy. This is the time to rally all good
Southern Folks.
Send your donations today, and we thank you for your support.

Confederate Memorial Hall — New
Orleans, La. -- Update
Sam Hood, who is a member
of the board of directors of Confederate Memorial Hall, sends us
the following news: He has spoken to Mrs. Pat Ricci, curator of
the hall. She reports that as of yesterday (Aug. 31) the museum is
apparently not flooded.
A major concern remains security. His reports indicate that the
National D-Day museum directly across the street from the
Confederate Museum has been "gutted and trashed by looters."
Sadly, we are informed that the homes of every member of the
Museum's staff are under water. The entire staff is now homeless
and will have nothing to return to. Sam informed Mrs. Ricci of the
efforts of all the readers of this site to inform the Civil War
community of their plight and she has asked that all of you be
thanked.
More updates will be posted as they become available.
