John Singleton MOSBY John Singleton MOSBY was born in Powhatan,Virginia on December 6, 1833. A small and frail child growing up, who would think someday that this child would lead an army of raiders for the Confederacy. Few raiders of the war could even attempt to approach the record of MOSBY and his 43rd. Virginia Partisan Rangers. He seemed invincible and unstoppable, and indeed he was. His raids including the capture of two Yankee Generals he became legendary and right until the end of the war nothing that the federals could do could stop him. In 1863 Col. Mosby became the only law in northern Virginia. He was judge and administrator in what became known as " Mosby's Confederacy". |
